Betty Solomon Cole Smith


Funeral services for Betty Solomon Cole Smith, 65, of Tifton, GA will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday , July 6, 2019 at Tift Avenue Baptist Church in Tifton, GA. Mrs. Smith passed away, Thursday, at her residence following an extended illness. Interment will be private in the Bethel Cemetery in Turner County.

The daughter of the late Wilber Solomon and Maureen Peterson Solomon. She was born in Douglas, GA and was a retired banker. She was a member of the Tift Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Benny Cole and a son in law, Monty Pate.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Smith of Tifton; her children, Kimberly Pate of Tifton and Jason Cole of Ashburn; her step children, Randy (Ann) Smith of Quitman and Jason Smith of Tifton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Haley (Lexi) Pate and Ally Pate both of Tifton; Shelby Cole and Ben Cole both of Ashburn; her step-grandchildren, Randall Smith and Addison Smith both of Quitman; Savana Smith and Jake Smith both of Waycross. Her siblings, Dayle Hollis, Brandon, FL; Junior Solomon and Mike Solomon both of Douglas; Randy Solomon, Ronnie Solomon and Darryl Solomon all of Broxton, GA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends, from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM at the Tift Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Betty wanted friends, family and pallbearers to be comfortable and dress casual.

Mr. Gary, I am saddened to hear of Mrs. Betty's passing. I only found out about it at church this morning. She was a good Christian lady and will be greatly missed by many. My condolences to you and your family
