James Gary Keen was born in Tift County on December 28, 1947. He went to his Heavenly Home on May 7th, 2019.
Funeral services will be Friday May 10th at 2:00 p.m. in chapel Albritton Funeral Home in Tifton, Ga. with Reverend Landon Alberson officiating. Eulogy by nephew Patrick Hill. Gary was a member of Brighton Rd. Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Grandsons Austin Avant and Keenan Webb, son in law Mikey Webb, nephew Patrick Hill, cousin Butch Coarsey, and longtime family friend Bobby Brannen. Honorary pallbearers will be the Tift County Sheriff's Department.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday the 9th at Albritton Funeral Home.
Gary was the owner and operator of Keen Wholesale Carpet and South Georgia Floor Covering. He was the owner of several other successful businesses during his career. Gary served as an auxiliary deputy for 20 years and later served Tift County as a full time deputy. He was the Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge and also served as a Shriner. He enjoyed Team Roping and had many close friends in the rodeo circuit. Preceded in death by his father Reverend James E. Keen and sister Glenda Keen Holland.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Pogue Keen "Patsy", mother Elwanda Henderson Keen, mother-in-law Pat Brady Pogue, sister Pat Keen Hill (Russell) and brother-in-law Billy Holland. Surviving children Angela Keen, Shauna Keen Webb (Mikey), Tiffany Keen Avant of Tifton, Ga. and son Jamie Keen of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Grandchildren Austin Avant, Christian Avant, Keenan Webb, Mason Avant, Kenslee Ann Webb, Kade Keen and Kyleigh Keen. Nephew Patrick Hill (Ellen) and Nieces Robin Jones (Michael), April Renfroe (Matt), Kaycee Porter (Scott) and many great nieces and nephews.
