Louis B. Dover, age 95, of Snellville, GA passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018. Son of the late Feddie and Annie Truelove Dover, Mr. Dover was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ann Holladay Dover, and four sisters - Thelma Dover, Margie Walker, Edna Gibbs and Sara Young. Louis is survived by children, Benjamin Dover and wife Susan Forehand Dover, Susan Dover Kent and husband Ron; Grandchildren Patrick & Tamila Dover, Adam & India Dover, Eric & Cheryl Dover, Courtney & Chris Ryan, William Echols, and Jesse & Jenn Kent; 13 Great Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other special relatives. He is also survived by his special friend, Betty Pearson, and her loving family. Louis was a native of the Tifton, GA area. He was born in Cumming, GA but lived most of his life in the Atlanta area. He had a career of 40 years with the Georgia Power Company, beginning on the line crew and retiring as Manager, Contracts. Mr. Dover was well-respected and commonly referred to as a Southern Gentleman by anyone who met him. He was active in the community as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Smoke Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA, as the President of the Exchange Club in Tifton, and as a member of the Georgia Power Company Ambassadors. He was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Tifton, GA. Louis was known as an avid hunter and fisherman, with many tales of adventures. He also grew lush gardens of vegetables and fruit trees, teaching his children and grandchildren about gardening and especially making fig preserves and pear preserves. A special thanks goes to his home caregivers, Tegi Abraha, Dian Delapenha, Angeline Graham, and to Arbor Terrace @ Burnt Hickory Assisted Living in Marietta, GA, for their special care of Louis the last 6 months until his sudden passing. The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Louis B. Dover will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
