Sidney Earl Hester


Mr. Sidney Earl Hester, 87, of Tifton, formerly of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Tifton Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Tim Henry officiating. Entombment will follow in Waterloo Baptist Church Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Hester, Joey Hester, Ronnie Parrish, Colton Hester, Bryse Hester and Justin Sapp.
Mr. Hester was born in Irwin County on October 18, 1931 to the late James Gordon Hester and Hattie Martin Hester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Busbin and Lucy Karasik. He was married to Charlotte Simpson Hester. He was a member of the Independent Worship Center in Tifton, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was an expert with guns and ammunition. He was proud of his Air Force career and his many years with the railroad. Mr. Hester graduated from Irwinville High School where he played basketball for Wallace Child's basketball team.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Hester is survived by three sons; Scott & Cindy Hester, Chip Hester, Greg & Norma Jean Hester, all of Forsyth, Georgia; two adopted sons, Frank Hester of Julliette, Georgia and John Hester of Atlanta, Georgia.; one daughter, Pam Sapp of Aiken, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Jaime Sapp, Justin Sapp, Colton Hester, Bryse Hester, Moira Hester and Chase Hester; one sister, Frances Eidson, Waterloo and one brother and sister-in-law Fred and Betty Joyce Hester of Waterloo, Georgia.
