Virgil David Dorminey Born on April 26, 1930, Virgil David Dorminey of Clayton, NC, passed away on February 7, 2019 at the age of 88. He is survived by two children, Kay Murphy (Vance) of Bellville, TX and Tony Dorminey (Becky) of Clayton, NC. Five grandchildren: Jennifer Dasher, Calvin Dasher, Anna Dorminey Earney (Barrett), Emily Dorminey Arras (Drew), Kathryn Dorminey Woods (Bryan)and nine great grandchildren. Also, one brother, Len Dorminey (Vicki)and three sisters Margaret Peacock, Ann Dorminey-Rea (Mike) and Loretta White (Freddie). He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald and Stella Dorminey of Sylvester, Ga., sister Wylene Hollman and the absolute love of his life, Kathleen Danforth Dorminey ("Miss Baby").

Virgil and Kathleen were married on August 31, 1952. Virgil was a master craftsman and a builder by trade. Kathleen was the secretary for Dr. Glen Burton at the Georgia Experiment Station until her retirement. After their children were grown, they dedicated their lives to full time ministry. They both served at Walkill, NY facility for the worldwide headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses from September 1979 to 1992, when they returned to Tifton. After Kathleen passed away in September 2002, Virgil returned to Wallkill as a commuter and continued serving there for several years.

Virgil had a love for old cars and was able to find a 1950 Chevy like the one he and Kathleen had when they dated in college at ABAC. He restored the Chevy to its original condition and was able to drive it back and forth from Georgia to New York. In 2013 when he was no longer able to care for himself, Virgil moved to North Carolina to live with his son Tony until a brief illness resulted in his death.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Whiddon Mill Road at 2:30pm.
He will be laid to rest next to Kathleen in a private family graveside service at Oakridge Cemetery following the memorial service.
