Mrs. Stanaland Passed away Friday, April 24, 2026 peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. She was a member of New Growth Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting local churches. She worked many years at Goody's and retired from Southern Regional Technical College.

Born January 9, 1935, in Meigs, Georgia, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Joseph Willie, Sr. and Katie Lou Bragg. She was married to Paul Littleton Stanaland for 65 years until his death.

She is survived by her sister, Agnes Peterman; children, sons, Randall Stanaland (Joyce) of Pelham; Mike Stanaland (Mary Ann) of Tifton; Wayne Stanaland (Rita) of Birmingham, AL; a daughter, Sherry Pelter (Bill) of Tifton; grandchildren, Shae Morrill (Kris) of Albany; Leslie Wilks (Jason) of Camilla, Ga; Stephen Stanaland (Yolanta) of Melbourne, FL; Rachel Lounsberry (Dan) of Deatsville, AL; Michael Stanaland (Mikayla) of Birmingham, AL; Shannon Jones (Garrison) of Tifton; Shad Hampton of Bay Minnette, AL; 12 Great Grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Neyrone Long and brother, Joseph Willie Atkinson, Jr.

Known to many as "Granny", Carolyn was a very inquisitive and social person. Over the last few years, she immensely enjoyed attending the local Pelham Country Jamboree with her friends while listening to the beautiful music of local talent, watching (sometimes participating) people dance, and that delicious potato soup! At home, Carolyn, when she was not binge watching Gunsmoke and Matt Dillon, she often welcomed friends and neighbors to visit and tour her abundant flower garden over her famous home-brewed percolated "jet fuel" coffee - which she would always enjoy a morning, pre-lunch, lunch, pre-evening, evening, and before-bed cup...or two!

Granny also enjoyed traveling to town in her big red van for a Strawberry Sundae at the famous Thomasville Dairy Queen! Carolyn enjoyed hosting events on the family farm. For many birthdays, holidays, and just regular family get-togethers, Carolyn would have a huge buffet or fish Fry where there was always an "odd" concern about there not being enough food but that was never a problem. If you left hungry, that was your fault! Granny enjoyed various knick-knack and country/Christmas treasures as well as photos. Odds are if you sent her a photograph, it has been printed and taped somewhere in her home!

Granny prided herself on maintaining her independence until the end - at 91, she would mow her own lawn, configure her own computer, fetch her own mail, take out her own trash, or whatever that would make you say, "She did WHAT?!?". That was Granny - a well-opinionated, independent, person that would fight tooth and nail for those dearest to her.
