Tifton, GA - James Daniel "Dan" Johnson, 58, of Tifton passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Navicent Health in Macon. A memorial service will be held for Dan at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Dan will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.

Born August 11, 1967, in Decatur, Dan was the son of the late James Bradford Johnson and Carol Jean Bramblett Johnson. He was of the Methodist faith.

Dan attended Valdosta State University and graduated in 2007 with a BA in Political Science.

Dan then attended the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 2012. Dan was sworn to practice law in the State of Georgia in November 2012.

After graduating law school, Dan was employed as an Assistant Public Defender in the Southern Judicial Circuit from January 2013 until May 2014 and then opened his own law office in Valdosta, Georgia, and then eventually moved his practice to Tifton.

Beyond the courtroom, Dan was a simple man. He spent his weekends outdoors camping or on his boat at a nearby lake, or at the beach.

Dan loved telling stories about his time in Alaska, his family and especially loved talking about childhood and college years. Dan had two cats that he loved dearly, Stripey and Blackie.

Dan is survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Richard Bradford Johnson and Stephen Bramblett Johnson and his wife, Nicole McGill Johnson; and his nieces and nephews, Amelia Johnson, Mac Johnson, Elise Johnson and Quinn Johnson.

Dan will not only be remembered by his friends and family, but also his extended family, Sparky and Amanda Lamb and their son, Ashton. Amanda worked side by side with Dan, but outside of the office, her family loved Dan as their own. They will truly miss his stories, laughter and unwavering love and support.
