Helen Dimsdale Evans, 76, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crossview Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Big Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Paulk Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughters, Gail Burris of Houston, Texas, Doris Pavlicheck of Frederick, Md., and Penny Powell of Fitzgerald, and sons Larry Evans of Silver Springs, Md., and Terry Evans of Derby, Kan. Deborah Meeks, 38, of Broxton, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at her mother's residence in Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors include her husband, Michael L. Meeks of Broxton; a daughter, Ashley Lynn DeWitt of Broxton; a son, Oscar E. DeWitt III of Douglas; her mother, Marie B. Bales of Fitzgerald; a sister, Hazel Marie Archer of Portsmouth, Va.; and two stepdaughters, Christine Smith of Valdosta and Brenda Meeks of Douglas. Christopher Walker, 17, of Moultrie, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, in Colquitt County. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Southview Mortuary, Inc.

Alma Miller Griner, 80, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County. Survivors include two sons, the Rev. Ronny Griver and Philip Griner, both of Fitzgerald, and a sister, Lucille Stone of Bonaire. Paulk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Laster Purswell, 89, of Rebecca, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rebecca Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn.
