Faith Brantley Tyson Obituary

Athens, GA - Faith Brantley Tyson passed away on July 9, 2025, at Haven Memory Care of Athens.

She was born on December 17, 1941, in Ocala, Florida to Lester and Eloyce Maddox Brantley (both

deceased). She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Tyson, Sr., brother Norman Brantley, and sister Mary Ann Brantley Bryan.

Mrs. Tyson grew up in Ocilla, Georgia. She was a graduate of Irwin County High School and

attended Valdosta State University. She was employed for 37 years with the University of

Georgia College of Agriculture at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton. Most of her

time at UGA was spent working as an administrative secretary in the Department of Agricultural

Engineering. She was a friend and mentor to many employees and faculty at work. Mrs. Tyson

was a passionate lifelong pianist and organist and served at Eastside Baptist Church of Tifton for many years. She enjoyed learning and playing challenging choral arrangements. She was known

to use her lunch hour at work to go and practice organ or piano at church. She was known for arranging beautiful flowers grown by her and her husband. She especially enjoyed providing

floral arrangements for church, weddings, anniversary celebrations, and ABAC's "Dollars for Scholars" banquets. She loved her grandchildren, her Pomeranian dogs, and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.

Mrs. Tyson is survived by her children, Dr. Don Tyson (Sheila) of Athens and Beth Tyson

Broadwater of Evans; brother, Harold Brantley of Sumner; grandchildren, Andrew Tyson, Sarah

Tyson, Madison Broadwater, and Emily Kate Broadwater; and nieces and nephews. The family expresses gratitude to the staff of Legacy Village of Athens, Haven Memory Care of Athens, and Traditions Hospice for the outstanding care they provided to Mrs. Tyson.

The family is very thankful to Jessica Brown (Traditions Hospice nurse) and Lisa Brown (Haven Memory Care nurse and owner) for the outstanding care and guidance provided. The family is especially

grateful to Brad and Leslee Tyson, Linda Brantley, Eileen Brogdon, Cindy Tyson, and Jeanette

Feltman for their unwavering friendship and support.

A funeral service was held at Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton, Georgia on Saturday, July 12,

2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation was held at the conclusion of the funeral service. Burial followed

at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Andrew Tyson, Brad Tyson, Eric Tyson, Wes Shannon, and Stacy Aultman.
