James E. "J.E." Dunlap Obituary
James E. "J.E." Dunlap, 88, of Ashburn died Saturday, March 23, 2013 following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Terrell Baptist Church, interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Dunlap was born in Ware County and was the son of the late Fletcher E. and Mamie Hicks Dunlap. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired Naval Store Operator and was a former member of the Turner County Board of Education. He was a faithful member of Terrell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and other various positions in the church. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandy Dunlap Joseph in 1993 and Judy Carole Dunlap in 2011. Mr. Dunlap is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Folsom Dunlap of Ashburn; his son, Jim (Millie) Dunlap of Sylvester; his daughters, Vicky (Stan) Hendrick of Saint Simons Island and Wendy (Gene) Avera of Birmingham. Ala.; and his son-in-law, John Joseph of McLean, Va. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kim (John) Brownlee of Tifton, Jennifer (Clay) Wulf of Omaha, Neb., Matthew Joseph of Baltimore, Md., Heather (Tom) Dundon ofCharlotte, N.C.; his great grandchildren, Garrett, Dawson, and Banks Brownlee all of Tifton, and Lyla Wulf of Omaha, Neb.; His brother and sister, Cecil (Evelyn) Dunlap of Alma and Tiny Jean Tillman of Adel.
