Jesse L. "J.L." Hall Jr., died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at his home in Lawrenceville. J.L. was born in Tifton on June 7, 1943 to Jesse L. Hall Sr. and Nancy M. Hall, both deceased. He was the grandson of the late William H. and Asenath C. Mathews, and the late William M. and Linnie S. Hall. J.L. is survived by his wife, Janice of Lawrenceville; a daughter, Merrie Beth (Chris) Mitchell; acson, Jesse A. "Jay" Hall of Callahan, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his two sisters, Shirley H. Scarborough and Marion H. (Mike) Johnston of Tifton, and one brother, Benny W. Hall of Tifton; as well as several nieces and nephews. J.L. was a 1961 graduate, and an outstanding athlete, for Tifton High School. He was captain and point guard for the 1961 basketball team that played for the state championship in Atlanta. During his high school years he was a hurdler, long jumper and quarter-mile sprinter on the track team. He was a member of the "T" Club and Future Farmers of America. J.L. moved to Jacksonville, Fla. in 1963 and worked in the trucking industry before moving to Acworth in 1992. He moved to Lawrenceville in 2002 where he was employed with the United States Postal Service until his death. He was an active member of North River Church. A memorial service will be held today at Old Ty Ty Cemetery in Tift County. Anyone wishing to, may make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
