William Leroy Bass
Mr. William Leroy Bass, 94, of Tifton passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Albritton Funeral Directors with Dr. Fred Evers officiating. Interment to follow in Oakridge Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 PM before the service at the funeral home.
Jackie Mathis, Gene Mathis, Bill Mathis, Roger Tharpe, Ricky Tharpe and Larry Tharpe will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tifton Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Bass was born April 10, 1925 in Worth County to the late William Wesley Bass and Della Parker Bass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Annie Elizabeth Tharpe Bass who died August 19, 2015; three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Bass was a member of Northside Baptist Church since 1962 where he was very active and served on several committees. He was a veteran of The United States Army Air Corp. serving during WWII and was a retired pest control exterminator working for many years for several companies. He was a member of the Tifton Masonic Lodge and Tifton American Legion Post. Mr. Bass was a humble man and was made resilient by living through the Great Depression. He loved his Lord and reading the Bible. He and his family enjoyed traveling to the mountains.
Mr. Bass is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Karen and Danny Jones of Tifton; his son Wendell Bass of Tifton; three grandchildren Brock and Brittany Jones, Krista and Justin Carter and Branden Bass; two great grandchildren Jacob Jones and Addilyn Jones;
